Triple Rock and a keg party

I stopped in at Triple Rock this weekend. It is the brew pub on Shattuck in Berkeley. It has been far too long.
Rodger Davis is a fantastic brewer and has a tendency to brew some hoppy brews.  I was not disappointed this time. Sofa King, a limited release double IPA, is fantastic. It is big and bold in its aroma and matched in the flavor. Complex flavor from 5 different hops balanced with a simple malt base. At over 8% you have to take it in small doses. But I couldn't stop at just one . . .

On Sat. I took a keg of my American Pale Ale to a "keg" party. They asked me to bring a 5 gal of the APA to go along with the 7.5 gal keg of Drake's Blonde. I was surprised and pleased to see that my APA went long before the Drake's Blonde. There was still some of the Drake's left at the end of the night. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since the Blonde is Drake's weakest beer. I am huge fan of Drake's beer especially the IPA and the Denogginizer but I don't care for the Blonde.

Alaskan IPA- 6.2 % Nice color. Aroma is very mild. Maybe been in the bottle too long. Good bitterness. Balanced with malt but not one of my favorites. I prefer more hop flavor. Still it is smooth and easy drinking.

Coming up soon. my version of Honey Stout and IPA.
